What material are your shakers and cups made from?
Every Skycorps shaker, cup, and tool is made from food-grade 304 stainless steel — 18% chromium, 8% nickel. It's the same grade used in professional kitchen equipment worldwide: corrosion-resistant, non-reactive, and fully compliant with international food contact safety standards. BPA-free throughout.

PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition — the same surface treatment used by high-end watch brands. In a vacuum chamber, the coating material is vaporized and deposited atom by atom directly onto the steel. The result is a finish that's chemically bonded to the surface, not sitting on top of it.Standard electroplating deposits a thin layer using electrical current. It looks similar when new, but the layer is thinner, less adhesive, and more prone to chipping or oxidizing — especially when it makes regular contact with acidic ingredients like citrus juice or bitters.

All Skycorps sets use PVD. The difference becomes visible after six months of real use.

Not under normal use. PVD is significantly harder and more adhesion-resistant than electroplating. The coating won't react with alcohol, citrus, or bitters. The main things that will degrade any metal finish over time are abrasive scrubbing and dishwasher detergent — hand-wash with a soft cloth and the finish holds.

Both are mechanical surface treatments — no paint, no additional coating.

Etching removes material from the steel surface to create a recessed pattern. The design sits below the surface, creating a tactile grip and a shadow-depth visual effect. Our 7-piece Boston set uses etched texture.

Reverse etching protects the design area while removing the surrounding surface, so the pattern stands above the background in relief. It catches light differently — the design reads as raised and sculptural. Our 18-piece Boston set and 6-piece Cobbler set use reverse-etched texture.

Neither will wear away with normal use. The texture is in the steel itself, not applied on top.

No. Food-grade 304 stainless steel is chemically inert — it doesn't react with alcohol, citrus, dairy, or any cocktail ingredient at standard temperatures. Many professional bartenders actually prefer all-metal vessels for this reason: no flavour transfer, no odour retention between uses.

Are your cups double-walled?
Our stainless steel wine cups are double-wall vacuum insulated, keeping cold drinks cold for up to 6 hours and warm drinks warm for up to 4 hours.

Cocktail shakers across all sets are single-wall by design. This is intentional: when shaking, you need to feel the temperature drop in your hands — it's one of the main cues for knowing when the drink is properly chilled and diluted. A double-walled shaker removes that feedback.

Yes — every set ships in a dedicated gift box. No additional gift wrapping needed for most occasions. The box is designed to be presentable as-is.

It depends on the recipient. The 6-piece Cobbler is the easiest entry point for someone who's never made cocktails — simple to use, nothing to figure out. The 7-piece Boston is good for someone who's curious and willing to spend twenty minutes learning the basics. The 11-piece and 18-piece sets are better matched to people who already have an interest in cocktails and will actually use the full range of tools.

For a general gift where you're not sure of their experience level, the Cobbler or 7-piece are the safer choices. For someone who's been talking about wanting to set up a proper home bar, the 18-piece is the right move.
