INGREDIENTS
Pizza Dough:
1%2 cups warm water (110°F)
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
3 %2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp olive oil
Pizza Sauce:
1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil leaves, chopped
Toppings:
8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
Extra virgin olive oil
METHOD
- Prepare the Dough: a. In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. b. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. c. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. d. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Pizza Sauce: a. In a bowl, combine crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, and chopped basil. b. Mix well and set aside.
03.Preheat the Oven: a. Follow the instructions under the "LIGHTING YOUR PELLETS" section to ignite the pellets in your outdoor pizza oven. b. Preheat the oven for approximately 15 minutes until the thermometer reads around 450°F and flames are visible rising from the back of the oven and through the top.
04.Assemble the Pizza: a. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 2-4 equal portions. b. Roll out one portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness. c. Place the rolled dough on a floured pizza peel. d. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough. e. Arrange the mozzarella slices evenly on top. f. Add fresh basil leaves and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
05.Cook the Pizza: a. Before adding the pizza, turn off the switch to stop the rotating turntable. b. Slide the assembled pizza onto the preheated pizza stone. c. Turn on the switch to keep the turntable rotating, ensuring even cooking. d. Cook the pizza for 60-90 seconds, checking frequently to avoid burning.
- Finish and Serve: a. Carefully remove the cooked pizza from the oven using the pizza peel. b. Allow the pizza to cool for a short period before slicing. c. Use appropriate tools and utensils to slice the pizza. d.
